This week Humum decided to start to teach Pea how to get up and down the stairs as he’s been here now for 2 weeks. She initially thought that he might take a while so put aside an hour to make a game of it with him but she didn’t need an hour to teach him as he walked up the stairs with me and then with encouragement from humum (mainly smiling, and saying lots of yays to him) he bought himself down. Hudad then stood at the top of the stairs and called him, and again Pea made his way up the stairs, this time on his own! With Humum again encouraging him, he took himself down them again beaming with pride when he got down the bottom.
But then Humum couldn’t stop him. Pea was so excited about getting cuddles when he achieved it (and which took me a few days to master) he just kept walking up and down the stairs on his own. The bit I liked was when we all got treats so I purposely walked with him up the stairs to keep an eye on him (of course).
Then Humum said that as he had learnt how to walk up and down the stairs on his own, she would teach him how to sit and stay. I never learnt how to do this because quite frankly, I couldn’t be bothered. Humum tried to teach me to do it when I was a puppy but I was more interested in sitting on her than taking any notice of her so she gave up on me. But Pea picked it up really quickly (I think he just loves cuddles and kisses too much) and now will sit for Humum (he won’t do it as much with Hudad because I think secretly he knows that Humum is the one that gives more treats) when she tells him too.
I think he looks incredibly cute – what do you think?
